FOREWORD.

A grateful tribute to the Members of this
Association who served in the King's Forces during
the arduous and fateful years of War.

The names on these pages are of those who
actively participated ; many of whom were maimed
and wounded, and others taken prisoners, bearing
the rigours pertaining to the terrible campaign.

Ten of the members made the supreme
sacrifice, and photographs of those are here
reproduced.

The memory of our heroic dead will never
be effaced, but will be enshrined in our inner-
most hearts. We may bid them an affectionate
farewell in the lines of an anonymous writer.

" Rough Crosses rise in Flanders, France,
And crown each hill and dot each lea ;
I know they mark the resting place
Of those who countered death for me;
Rut this I know not, when shall fade
From Honour's Roll or cease to be
Those gallant gentlemen's renown
Who watched, and fought, and died for me."

The intention is that this brochure may remain
a permanent record of the brave, and that it may
serve as an inspiration to coming generations of
Commercial Travellers to obey the call of duty.

Captain W. h. CANDY.
Killed in Action 1915.
